Irish Coffee

My mother once told me about the time when mugs were coming into fashion, and teacups and saucers were on their way out. My granny was not at all happy about the situation. She was very much into setting the table appropriately, and drinking tea from a china cup. With the advent of the mug (mug gate), I’m sure she must’ve thought “there goes the neighbourhood”. But she got into the whole mug thing, and never looked back. I wonder if she were here with us now, would she embrace the return of the cup and saucer? I guess I’ll never know…

I heart Arklow pottery. I’ve collected quite a bit  of it over the past few months, and the patterns always give me a warm feeling. It was produced in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Ireland since 1934. The company ceased production in 1999, and is now closed. But every now and then I’ll come across pieces like these, and they give me that warm feeling all over again. I love that there are specific cups for drinking coffee. It makes the ritual that bit more special :)
