WTHeck? Pyrex looking kind of "odd".

I found this odd looking pyrex thingie...does anyone know what it is?  My hubbie thought maybe a gravy seperator then said it is something medical or science related.

I just think it is cool.  Picked it up at Goodwill today and thought it was odd so I bought it to show on here to see if anyone could tell me WTHeck it is.

Thanks.

  1. I can't say exactly what it was used for but it is from a lab for sure. Pyrex made (and still make) lab ware and this would have been for some sort of medical/science work. ;)

  2. Oh heck this is a tricky question - I have no idea what on earth it is, but I know that if it was mine I'd use it as a quirky flower vase.

  3. My guess would be a broth separator for making gravy and such. You fill it with broth and the grease and oil floats to the top. Then you pour the clarified broth out the bottom. You can speed up the process by putting it in the refrigerator. I wish I had one of these, vintage or not.

  4. Looks very similar to this one, so I'd agree with Wilma44...

  7. Wilma44 is right - it is a gravy separator and works as mentioned. My mother has one.
