City Guides-Koreatown, Los Angeles, CA

This week I took a trip around my new hood and visited 8 thrift stores in one day. It was a power thrift run and despite all the stores I only bought one thing, shocking I know.

Here we go!

Goodwill 1218 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90038
This Goodwill has a small parking lot, you might be better off parking on the street. It's large inside with a huge clothing section but the furniture and housewares left a lot to be desired.

Goodwill 817 S.La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036
Clean, not a lot of furniture. Lots of large mirrors and clothing. Decent Housewares section.

Vintage Treasures & Thrift Shop 1033 &1035 S.Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 900019
Both stores have tons of stuff, fair prices. So much to look at. The woman at the Thrift Shop makes awesome cord wrapped sculpture lampshades that are worth checking out.

Council Thrift Store 8520 W.Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 900035
Small and overpriced. There is a lot of jewelry and 80's furniture.

Goodwill 1535 S.Western Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90006
Biggest complaint about this store is that they stack their records, which makes it impossible to go through them. They are on the bottom shelf which adds to the difficulty. They have a lot of records because no one is going through them. They have no furniture and no parking. This one is skip-able.

Council Thrift Store 1052 S.Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90019
Even with "Everything Always 50% off" this store is still overpriced. Another store full of 80's furniture.

Ace Thrift 2807 W.Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006
Big empty. Overpriced, no housewares. It's like a bad swap shop.

Salvation Army 1940 W.Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006
Good selection of Mid-C lamps. Lots of overstuffed recliners. It's not a big store so there's not a big selection of anything.

Out of the Closet 360 N.Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036
This is a nice big store with lots of everything. It's overpriced ($35 for a lamp) but I've been told all Out of the Closets are that way. It's for a great cause so perhaps this can be overlooked.
