gone thrifting: beyond the blue box

About an hours drive from my house lies a lovely little thrift shop called Beyond the Blue Box (cute, right?).  Perhaps I should correct myself.  The drive should take an hour, but every single time I make the trip I get lost and tack another 30 minutes of driving to the route.  I'd call it scenic, but if you know the 401 at all then you know I was lying.

Anyway, I thought you may as well join me for the trip since I was going anyway.  So here's a peek at one of my favourite thrift spots.

Pretty silver-toned coasters or flashy baby Frisbee's?

Obligatory wall of books packed full of microwave cooking guides.

One of my favourite haunts - the doily bin.

This strange looking toaster was in my cart until I realized it was held together with a bobby pin.

Love these retro chalkboards.  Too bad Georgia already has three.

This is one of those things that I will kick myself for not buying for years to come.  Dangit!

Sewing machines and kittens are two things that I can never say no to.
How I managed to leave the store without this I do not know.

So far I've managed to show you what I didn't bring home.  If you'd like to see more of what made it into my car, be sure to check out the latest Thrifted post on My Girl Thursday.

  2. that wall unit has been there for AGES! i can't believe nobody has snatched it up. It's a room divider with a little shelf and light in it. anyway, i love the blue box and it's pretty much my favorite thrift store around.

  3. I'm so tempted to drive there tomorrow and just buy it, but I cannot think of where to put it in our house. The problem is that my partner runs his practice out of our home so we have to factor that into every decorating decision. Screw respectability - I want that room divider!

  4. I loved that haul :) The room divider is beautiful but I can see how it would be tricky to utilize in any home. (Wish I lived near that thrift store!)
